Zoom Lecture for Lincoln Business School for HMD 2022

University of Lincoln

I met Dr Craig Marsh, who is Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the Lincoln International Business School at the Debrecen airport in October 2019. I recognised him from the hotel I had been staying in in Oradea, Romania. I had seen him in the Dining Room on the previous evening. After I had checked in at the airport which has Whizz flights back to London, I found myself next to him as we were both sorting our papers out after check-in. I told him I recognised him from the hotel and we started chatting about what we were doing in Romania – he was increasing Lincoln’s links with Romanian Universities and I had visited Oradea because my father had been born there in 1910. (Information on my Romanian trip can be found here.)

We chatted until the flight was called and he carried my laptop bag for me as we boarded – bless him. He was very keen for me to come to Lincoln to give a lecture. A lecture was first scheduled for January 2021 for Holocaust Memorial Day. It was cancelled because of Covid and re-scheduled for January 2022, but because life was still difficult Craig asked me to do a Zoom lecture. I had never done one before and was concerned about the technicalities of giving a PowerPoint on Zoom but the wonderful Stuart Armsworth resolved the issues and I presented it on 25 January 2022. You can view it on YouTube.
